Operations Director - Mission Critical - Hyperscale Data Centers

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing all construction operations within the business unit and managing the assigned Project Executive(s). This role is critical in developing the business unit's strategic growth plan and identifying how to execute the plan while driving continuous improvement. The Director of Operations reports directly to the Business Unit Leader. Mission Critical - Hyperscale Data Center Construction experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure project success by fostering a strong safety culture, maintaining high-quality performance, meeting client expectations, and staying on schedule and within budget.
- Collaborate with the business development team to identify new opportunities, provide direction aligned with the strategic plan, and maintain relationships with both new and existing clients.
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from business development to project closeout, including preconstruction, buyout, project scheduling, contract terms, budget management, and change order/subcontract negotiations.
- Work with business unit leadership to identify qualified staff for current projects and address staffing gaps for future growth; manage recruitment and hiring efforts to fill these gaps.
- Identify and address training gaps and opportunities for operations staff.
- Ensure successful execution of project goals, foster high morale and commitment, and implement quality programs.
- Partner with the Business Unit Leader to develop and implement the annual operating and strategic growth plans.
- Take responsibility for risk management and mitigation within business unit construction operations.
- Promote value engineering and identify opportunities for scope reduction.
- Lead the dispute resolution process involving subcontractors, vendors, architects, and owners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders throughout the construction process.
- Lead by example, motivating and providing clear direction to the team, proposing and implementing changes, and mentoring direct reports.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities for development, recommend disciplinary actions when necessary, oversee job assignments, and suggest promotions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in a related industry field is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience: A minimum of 15 years of construction Mission Critical project management experience, with proven success in strategic execution, leading business unit or company-wide initiatives, and leading teams. Experience with LEAN principles is preferred. OSHA 10 or 30 certification is preferred, or the willingness to obtain it upon hire.
- Technology: Proficiency in basic office software (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and experience with project management/scheduling software (e.g., JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, Asta).
- Skills: Strong leadership, decision-making, business acumen, and mentoring skills. Excellent judgment, communication abilities, and conflict resolution skills. High degree of self-motivation and the ability to network with clients effectively.
